The acronym for Children In Need would be CIN. That’s right say it loud; Children in Need is a CIN.

That is why we took their symbol Pudsey Bear and organised a Burn Pudsey Friday which coincided with CIN.

We knew that members of the Disabled People’s Direct Action Network would be into this. We knew that they would want an action to go to. We knew they would feel the need to resist Pudsey. We organised an event for them and we called it Burn Pudsey Friday. This was the first such night. The second Burn Pudsey Friday will coincide with the next CIN. We must all stop CINning.

At its peak the We All Shot Pudsey Bear facebook group had 62 members. Seems we lost two members to the fire but we will grow. This will become a bigger event. There will be parties to celebrate our unity as disabled activists and allies. The fires will burn brighter and brighter. Stories will be told around the fires of our struggle and our survival. We will socialise amongst ourselves and invite new people to the fire. We will engage with passions inflamed and merge our message with the smoke that will waft above our cities and towns only to come down again with the rain and mix with the ashes on the ground. The ashes of Pudsey bear that we dance on.

Celebrate Burn Pudsey Friday.

Add it to your calendar.

The fire is coming.

(To see the burn Pudsey photos, videos and to read the stories and indeed to join the group We All Shot Pudsey Bear)
