Dsability Movement Humour

We were on yet another action for the right to live independently.

Danners had piled into a doorway in westminster, picketing a Department Of Work and Pensions Office.

I stood on the pavement collecting signatures on our petition. Civil servants filed by saying sorry, we are not allowed to sign petitions even if we agree with them. Eventually another type of person came by. A working class woman. I thought she may be a cleaner. She spoke to me in cockney and i thought she would certainly sign her name. She asked what it as all about and i said independent living for disabled people. “Oh! yes! Disabled people”, she said, “You know i had a couple of them living next door to me once and i can tell you they’re not all they’re cracked up to be”.

This page represents the first step in revelaing the humopur in and behind direct action. Hope you will join in.
